Weymouth College has been awarded COVE (Centre of Vocational Excellence) status for its internationally renowned stonemasonry courses. The College also runs the unique Foundation Degree in Applied Architectural Stonework & Conservation which combines both theory and practical training and places students directly into the heritage industry. The course has strong links with companies and organisations and has an industry advisory panel made up of current practitioners within the heritage conservation sector.
This is a Stone Masonry, Conservation, Carving and Lettercutting course taught in partnership with Bournemouth University School of Conservation Sciences.
The Foundation Degree provides an essential grounding in the skills, knowledge and professional requirements of architectural stonework and conservation. The proficiency developed and practical work experienced throughout the course will enable you to make an effective contribution when working with both new and historic stonework in a professional context.
There is currently a major shortage of suitably qualified people in the field of architectural stonework and conservation and this course helps to train people to fill this shortage.
